The Schering-Plough Foundation

The Schering-Plough Foundation, a non-profit membership corporation established in 1955, is dedicated to working with the citizens of our communities to help them realize their full potential and enhance their quality of life. The Foundation targets its support in three major areas: health, education, community initiatives (social/civic welfare, public policy, culture and the arts and women and minorities).

Health

The Foundation's interest in improving the health and well-being of our communities remains a top priority and is reflected in the numerous initiatives that have been developed to benefit these communities. We invest in the future of our communities by building meaningful partnerships that enhance the quality of life. Currently, the Foundation is involved in several partnerships that seek to expand the quality and availability of health care in our underserved communities.

Education

The education of our children, particularly in the area of science, has always been an important part of the Foundation's philanthropic activities. We provide leadership in science education by investing in the construction of science and technology laboratories in high schools and colleges, and by sponsoring student and teacher mentorship programs and summer camps. The Foundation is proud to have instituted a scholarship program that currently benefits secondary and higher education students in 15 New Jersey schools. Through the "Schering-Plough Foundation Scholars Program," each of the 15 schools receives $10,000 per year to award to a student who satisfies certain criteria.

Community Initiatives

Support for community development takes many forms and allows the Foundation to reach out to numerous, highly diverse groups within our communities. We continue to support organizations that promote culture and the arts, environmental issues, legal services, etc. and are always seeking out new and innovative ways to serve the citizens of our communities.

To recieve support from the Schering-Plough Foundation, a non-profit organization should determine if it fits within the the Guidelines. If it does, an application should be completed online. For more information, see our Pre-Application Questionnaire.
